It is quite unexpected .... that only Cent OS 7 pass test.
For some is clear - platform specific dependency.

On my virtual machines all tests pass (slackware / openssl 0.9.7-1.1.1, suse , cent os , solaris).

I guess that failure is only in test - before execution of "remote directory " is removed but his is not enough for the tests.
Perhaps one of modifications:
(1) add sleep
(2) instead  rm -rf ${DIR2} to use
     mv ${DIR2} ${DIR2}-r2l ; rm -rf ${DIR2}-r2l
(3) temporary to disable test with experimental sftp more.

In general (3) is work-around as in some cases scp3 test in sftp mode fail.
